Directions: The teacher will decide before the games starts which movement activities students can choose from for the high-energy, active phase of the game and which yoga/dynamic stretching poses to choose from when they become “statues.” Review movements to ensure students understand and know how to perform them safely. The teacher will choose one student to be the “curator” who stands at the front of the classroom with their back turned to the other students.
Get started: The “statues” will assume a yoga/dynamic stretching pose (e.g., tree, triangle, warrior) and stand perfectly still “like a statue” until the curator turns their back to them. While the curator is not looking, students will perform a movement activity (e.g., jumping jacks, marching in place). If the curator “catches” anyone moving when they turn around, the “caught” student must do 10 desk push-ups and take their seat. The winner is the last student standing and assumes the next role as the curator.
